Vineyards, Vélos and Very Magical Villages

The past two days Daniel and I biked 26.6 miles (I learned that this is 42.8 kilometers) through the vineyards that separate the small villages of Alsace. We may have gotten a bit lost in the process, but those bike-rides have been some of my favorite moments of the trip so far.

The city of Colmar is the largest town in the area- the "big city." This is where the the main train and bus connections were and where we found our bikes to rent.

From there we biked to:

  • Eguisheim

  • Turckheim

  • Keyersburg

  • Riquewihr

Before this trip I definitely had never heard of these little villages that make up this part of the world, but it is one of the most beautiful places. Walking through these villages we felt like we found a fairytale. I don't think I would have been surprised to see Belle strolling by, book in hand, at any given moment. It really felt magical. We had to keep reminding ourselves that we were not in Disneyworld.

Aside from the quintessentially quaint towns, biking through the vineyards was such a fun memory. Throughout the journey there were a lot of hills that we were not aware were going to be there. We have definitely have gotten some great exercise. To be out in nature is so refreshing.

We feel so overwhelmed that we have this opportunity to be here and see these places.
