The Beginning

It all started in a Jimmy Johns parking lot.

Daniel and I sat in our blazing, un-air-conditioned car, unwiches in hand, and talked about the past year. We have been married for ten months. Ten months. Time is a strange thing. It seems that our beautiful summer wedding was only weeks ago and also that Daniel and I have always been best friends who get to wake up next to each other every day.

As we sat there, on our hour long lunch break, on a Monday afternoon, we came to a fork in our wonderful life path that we have been strolling down these past ten months.

For a few months we have teeter-tottered between loving the process of continuing to build our very cute third floor apartment home and acknowledging an ever-growing swelling in our hearts, longing for change and adventure and purpose beyond our routine.

And then, all of a sudden, there was opportunity to jump into a new chapter.

Europe.

We have been praying about going to Europe in these past few months, the continent unexpectedly placed on both our hearts. Earlier this year we had reached out to contacts, almost bought tickets, and prayed a lot about the transition. But the timing didn’t feel right.

Until now.

On that afternoon, both covered by peace and excitement, we decided to go for it. To let go of our known for the unknown.

Let go.

Those are the key words.

In the next few days there was a flurry of letting go of our jobs, potentially letting go of our apartment, letting go of money to buy plane tickets, letting go of the cozy everydays that we have enjoyed these past ten months.

But in the midst of letting go, there is such a strong peace and confidence marking our movements.

Our hands are now free for what our Father has in store.

And, I can tell you, we have no idea what that is.

Our hope is this…

  • To jump into freelance videography world, providing documentary-style videos for ministries and organizations throughout Europe.

  • To have the opportunity to meet, serve and love people in practical ways, however that opportunity for missions becomes available.

  • To gain a vision for our life as teammates, and explore what the Lord may have in store for our family.

  • To have an epic adventure, traveling, exploring and loving life.

So, there you go. The beginning of a new chapter.

It may be very short, it may be the start of a new way of life. I know that it will be exciting and hard and such an incredible adventure.

No matter what, I know that it’s a story that will be worth telling.
